Penn State opened up it's conference play at Indiana in week 5. This was a closer game the the 34-24 final score indicated. Penn State was outgained in total yards by the Hoosiers, but managed to pound the rock enough to keep the hot Hoosier offense off the field. The game was marred by an unusual amount of holding and clipping calls by both teams. This game was tied going into halftime, but Penn State managed to control the clock with the running of Mr. Redd.
