Shaky Start for Gamecocks

In a battle of Carolina schools, host East Carolina came out guns blazing, connecting on several deep passes against SC's coverage. The rain appeared to favor the home team for most of the first half, as they seemed a step faster on both offense and defense. They managed to limit the production of All Americans Lattimore and Jeffery, giving them hopes of pulling off the Week 1 upset. But then the numbers game finally caught up. After going up by 7 late in the 3rd, the Pirates failed to stop South Carolina's offense for the rest of the game as the Gamecocks were able to reel off 28 unanswered points to seal the victory.
